How is a BTEC Level 3 grade calculated?

Each unit grade (Pass, Merit, Distinction) is converted into Pearson points based on the unit's size in guided learning hours (GLH). The points are added together and the total is compared with the grade boundaries for your qualification size to give the overall grade.

How many UCAS points is my BTEC worth?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the qualification size and overall grade. For example, DDD in an Extended Diploma is 144 UCAS points (the same as AAA at A-Level), DD in a Diploma is 96 points, and a Distinction in an Extended Certificate is 48 points. The calculator shows the tariff for any combination.

Yes. It covers all five BTEC National (RQF 2016) sizes: Certificate (180 GLH), Extended Certificate (360 GLH), Foundation Diploma (510 GLH), Diploma (720 GLH) and Extended Diploma (1080 GLH), plus A-Levels.
